Have you ever been crawdad fishing?

I had never fished for crawdads (or crayfish) before! It was so fun! You just tie raw chicken drumsticks onto a string and dip it into the water, wait for the crawdads to grab hold, and then you pull them out! At first some of us were a bit squeemish about them and didn't want to pick them up, not to mention get pinched by them. But we got over it and ended up catching 350 of them.

It was fun because once we got started, we attracted tons of them and they all came to shore. You could watch them in the water and watch them grab your chicken and pull them out. Boy they are fast in the water! The kids loved it! They could have done it for hours. We were probably at it for an hour and a half. Zach liked fishing, but also liked going around and picking up all the ones that had been caught by the others. He was very brave and even got pinched once. It was his badge of honor.

Congratulations! On the upcoming arrival of a new little one... although, catching that many crawdads is a feat to be proud of! That sounds like a blast, we took our boys to the trout farm, but they only got to catch 1 fish each... we'll have to try that out!
