Cade turns 2!

Happy Birthday, Cade! He still loves Elmo, so he had a very Elmo birthday: Elmo books, costume, chair, and cake! All he wanted was balls. We went to the toy store and all he was interested in were the balls. So he got a bunch of balls and a basketball hoop. We went to the zoo to celebrate with his cousin Ashley, who shares a birthday. He loves the animals, of course, but the whole time we were there he was asking to ride the train (such a boy!).

Poor Elmo, after he was masacred.

Cade is a happy and healthy 2 year old. He's talking a bunch, yelling "MINE" and "I got it first!" a lot, he's in the 80th percentile for height and 75th for weight. He looks a bit chubby, but really isn't. He and Zach wrestle about 80% of their play time.

He loves to help me make food. He asks for an egg every day because he gets to crack it, stir it, push the button on the microwave and cut it up after it's done. He seems to eat better after he's helped, too. Oatmeal is the other thing he requests and helps make (the instant kind). He is a lot of fun and very stubborn. I can't believe it!

With baby#3 coming, Zach and Cade get to share a room pretty soon. We bought the bunk beds, I'm just afraid to set them up. I'm afraid that they'll wrestle and giggle all night long. I know it'll be fine, but the adjustment will probably be hard on me. Wish me luck!

Butterflies

We recently let our butterflies go. We raised them from tiny caterpillars. They grew to be a couple of inches long and then cacooned themselves. The kids loved them. Their friends loved to come visit them, too.

Emerging from a cacooon.

Letting them go. Most of them stopped to say goodbye before flying away. The last one, was reluctant to leave. I think it must have been the youngest one who hatched a couple of days later than the rest. I hope they all survived!

Happy Independence Day!

We enjoyed the fireworks last night! Cade watched about 5 seconds of them before he turned around to snuggle with me and fall asleep. That was really late for him! I'm so grateful to live in America with all the freedoms we enjoy!

Announcement

It's true! We saw our little bean last week. He or she was moving around like crazy! We are so excited to be having our 3rd little one. Can't wait to find out if it's a boy or girl. I've been feeling pretty good. I'm 10 weeks along and due on January 28th (the week after my birthday). So, we've got lots of planning to do (especially if it's a girl). Can't wait!

Disneyland, etc

Our Disneyland Vacation:

A month ago we went on vacation to California with Jake's sister's family, Alan, Kristin, Ashley and Sophie Aagard. We had a blast! The kids loved having sleepovers every night. And the parents loved seeing the kids have fun! It was all about them. We went swimming, beaching, riding, munching, monkeying, dancing, whale watching, digging, splashing, snacking, driving, napping, bathing, kite flying, photo taking, and junk eating. The kids did great with all the busy activity, barring the inevitable breakdown of one or all of the kids every day. IT WAS GREAT!

Cade was afraid of the ocean, but loved the sand. Zach didn't want a lot to do with the waves, but splashed a bit. He mostly acted as water transporter to and from the dig site. Jake flew a kite for the kids, but the kids didn't give a whooie about it. Poor Jake and his lonely kite. I took a lot of pictures. That's my job, right?

We were there during Zach's birthday and the lucky kid got to go to Disneyland on his fourth birthday! It was great. Zach liked the bigger rides, but the other 3 kids, stuck with the outdoor (because the indoor ones are dark and scary) kiddie rides. Zach enjoyed the Matterhorn, Pirates of the Caribbean, and the Toon Town Roller Coaster. Cade's enjoyment consisted of never riding in the stroller. He just loved running around all the parks and dancing to the music. Of course we got pictures with the characters and Zach and Ashley got to skip across the square with Goofy. It was adorable!!

(Cade had a hard time with the sunscreen, don't know why, but look at his poor eyes)

We visited the beach on Coronado Island. Cute GQ guy, huh?

Sea World was our favorite, though. After 3 days at Disney, Sea World was relaxed. The kids loved the animals. Cade's favorite was the whales. He loved the Shamu show. Zach really liked the otters, they were being so cute!! Oh, and Cade got to meet Elmo and Cookie Monster. Can it get any better?

The famous San Diego Zoo was awesome as always, but we were pretty tired at the end of our trip. It's a lot of walking! But the kids did great and the adults only had a breakdown or two..:)

The whole time at the zoo, Cade asked to see the elephants. We saw them last, naturally, but he enjoyed it. Wow, my kids are growing up!!

What a fun trip!
